Has anyone heard the one about a JW in prison? Apparently a prison officer who was well known for beating up the prisoners put the JW in solitary confinement. As this brother was alone, he found a pen in his pocket and wrote the name JEHOVAH on the floor. He then continued to polish it with the arm of his shirt and the letters of the name appeared luminous in the darkness. The prison officer then returned to give the JW a beating, slipped upon the shiny floor where the luminous name of God appeared inches from his face. He ran out of the cell in fright and later became a JW himself hehe! :-D xx

"Are you the plumber?"
by Jourles ini've been debating whether or not to post this story simply because the org knows who i am (post history from pre-'05 will tell you all you need to know), and i'm not sure if they would give my parents shit if they knew what transpired earlier this summer.
but you know what, i don't care what they do, because my mom is dying of stage iv cancer and i feel this needs to be heard by anyone struggling with the loss of contact from their relatives.. for those who are not familiar with my background, i became a small thorn in the side of the wts while i was still in.
i'm not big on being deceived, and for me, the org crossed my personal 'red line' when it came to blood and the child abuse issue.

Darling Jourles,
Well done for writing out your story it must have been so hard. I was in the same situation with my Dad 3 years ago, but when I did go to see him he reached out to hug me and kissed me all over my face saying "My little girl". My Mum is 86 and I dont know how much time she has left, she cut me off again after the funeral was over, realizing that I wasnt returning to the org. She is not a nice person to me so I dont miss her. I will be there to support my sister when my Mum dies but that is all.
The JWs permit contact in terminally ill cases and I feel the reason for that is so that the family cares for them and the JWs dont have to. My Dad got few visits from them when he was dying and my Mum hardly gets any now she is alone. Your Mum speaks to you but she is still following instructions just as my mother does. The JWs will not shun you at the funeral, they spoke to me on that day and one of them said "your Dad talked about you all the time" as if that would give me comfort instead of seeing him.
I do hope you find a way to cope with this it is so hard. <3 xxx

Family is now reaping what they sowed and they don't like it.
by Gemmel ini resigned from the jw's in my 20's over 30 years ago, i was immediately shunned by my entire family and it's remained that way with a few exceptions ever since.
one of those exceptions was being contacted by a cousin a few years back and during that conversation i discovered that my mother had been and still was the prime mover in my complete and continuing shunning.
i then used what contacts i had left to confirm it.

My mums in her 80s. My eldest brother is an elder who moved over 300 miles away even though she needed care. I am in her eyes the black sheep and DF so she wants nothing to do with me. My sister is inactive but was always the favoured child so for her it has been 'payback' time and she is doing the caring. The JWS are letting her do that even though she is inactive so that they dont have to. I will help my sister after my mum has died, but I will not get involved now. :-/ x

Is the average JW sycophantic?
by stuckinarut2 inwas just pondering the mindset of the average jw.. would it be appropriate to think that many are sycophants?.
think of the way they act towards those they preach to.
or the way they act towards one another in the congregation - especially towards those taking the lead (elders).

They think the elders are not human and couldnt possibly do anything bad or have any human thoughts. I remember when I heard an elder was going to Spain for his holiday and I made a remark about the topless women on the beaches there. My mum said he would never had lustful thoughts or look at these women because he was an elder!!! Hmmmm :-D x

A question for you women; what was it really like for you being in the Org?
by Tallon inhi there folks.. i took a bit of time out from the forum, however i'm back again.. what was it really like for you, your experiences good or bad, etc, in the org?.
if you were granted a listening ear by the gb, what changes would you like to see implemented?.

My Dad's Funeral
by Disassociated Lady 2 ini had not seen my dad for 15 years because i had left the borg.
(i had been out 26 years but there was a few years when the jws permitted contact with outsiders and then changed their minds again).
they made contact with me again just before he was diagnosed with cancer.

I had not seen my Dad for 15 years because I had left the Borg. (I had been out 26 years but there was a few years when the JWs permitted contact with outsiders and then changed their minds again). They made contact with me again just before he was diagnosed with cancer. I was shocked at how old they had become which reminded me how long I had been out of their lives. I had moved 300 miles away as I had not family contact at the time of moving and didn't see the point in staying around.)
The day of the funeral arrived and I went to the Kingdom Hall and sat with my Uncle who is also disassociated. The JWs spoke to me, took them a while to recognize who I was even though many of them had grown up with me. The coffin was outside in the hearse as it would have been difficult to get it in the hall as the building is below ground level. I did not know the elder who lead the funeral service he spoke a little about my Dad doing an elaborate dive into the swimming pool before getting baptized instead of queuing quietly with the others which they had words with him about later lol. Other than that it was all the usual stuff they come out with. My mum chose her favorite song, not my Dads and the funeral seemed to be more about what she wanted.
The gathering after was held in a local pavilion. There was about 150 there. One of the men who I had known since childhood said that my Dad spoke about me all the time!! Another young woman who I did not know had the cheek to tell me how my Dad had walked her down the aisle and given her away at her wedding!! My Dad was not able to that at mine and her words really hurt, how inconsiderate!!
It seemed strange to have all the JWs I remembered speak to me in a way I wished they hadnt as I felt it made things worse. Anyway as soon as the funeral was over my Mum returned to no contact, as I called on her one day with my son and she wouldn't even let us in the house. Boy did I tell her a few home truths when that happened.
I know I will have to go through all this again when my Mum dies and will do so to support my sister as she is having a difficult time caring for her. She is inactive but my Mum has contact with her because she needs her. My brother is an elder and moved far away after my Dad died so he didn't have the responsibility which has been so unfair.
There just seems to be no consideration for others feelings in this organization even though they give the impression that there is. I honestly dont think any of them know how to. :-(

Are there any of these in the U.S., although I guess they would be different to the UK ones.
Another way of making more money :-/

Will paradise be like a 24/7 Disneyland vacation package?
by Sour Grapes ini was thinking about the jdub paradise this morning and all of the pictures in the watchtower company's literature illustrating the new system of things.. here is a partial list of what you see in the pictures:.
pet pandas, lions, elephants.
people always on a picnic with lots of beautiful fruits and vegetables.

A recent talk about life in the new system was that the elders would be princes and the JWs will still have to obey them and do jobs they may not enjoy. Also the preaching will continue as the resurrected ones will need to be taught. Doesnt sound much different to me. 😒 xx
